Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU)
The “YOU Made it” Program offers youth (ages 16-29) meaningful, hands-on job experiences and skills development. On-the-job training is available for several social enterprise businesses owned and operated by Youth Opportunities Unlimited. I led the business development, sales, promotion, marketing and youth mentoring/engagement program for YOU’s award winning, “YOU Made It” Social Enterprise program. I also worked one-on-one with businesses and youth to create viable solutions to youth facing employment barriers, igniting economic development.
Strategies & Highlights:
- Increased revenue through creating strategic community partnerships, internal quality improvement, staff and volunteer development
- Developed excellent relationships with all stakeholders by involvement in the business community and by being a proactive listener
- Mentored young entrepreneurs and helped them build necessary skills and insights in order to establish and sustain new business start-ups
- Managed over 15+ special events and was accountable for developing budgets and increasing sales
- Developed internal processes in order to increase operational efficiency and cost savings in the development of the YOU Made It line of products
- Constructed strategies with businesses to create opportunities for youth engaged in programming in order to grow skills and ignite economic development
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a WordPress, graphic design and content creation for YOU’s YOU Made It Cafe site.
Results:
- Food & Beverage department revenue increased by 111% from fiscal 2014-2016
- Market Quality Preserves (MQP) and Gift basket department revenue increased by 31% from fiscal 2014-2016
- Woodshop department revenue increased by 300% from fiscal 2014-2016
